HOW TO PRAY THE ROSARY

Preparation
  1. Hold the Rosary: Start at the crucifix. Make the Sign of the Cross: "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."

  2. Pray the Apostles' Creed: While holding the crucifix, recite: "I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth..." (full creed).

  3. Pray the Our Father: Move to the first large bead and say: "Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name..." (full prayer).

  4. Pray Three Hail Marys: On the next three small beads, pray one Hail Mary each for an increase in faith, hope, and charity: "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee..." (full prayer).

  5. Pray the Glory Be: After the three Hail Marys, say: "Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen."

The Decades (Repeat for 5 Mysteries)
  1. Announce the Mystery: For each decade (group of 10 beads), announce and meditate on one Mystery (e.g., First Joyful Mystery: The Annunciation). Focus on the event from Jesus' or Mary's life.

  2. Pray the Our Father: On the large bead, recite the Our Father.

  3. Pray Ten Hail Marys: On the ten small beads, pray one Hail Mary each while continuing to meditate on the Mystery.

  4. Pray the Glory Be: After the ten Hail Marys, recite the Glory Be.

  5. Pray the Fatima Prayer (optional but common): "O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell; lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who have most need of Thy mercy. Amen."

  6. Repeat for Next Mysteries: Move to the next large bead and repeat steps 6-10 for the remaining four Mysteries.

Closing Prayers
  1. Pray the Hail Holy Queen: After the fifth decade, recite: "Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope..." (full prayer).

  2. Pray the Rosary Prayer: "O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life..." (full prayer).

  3. End with the Sign of the Cross: "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen."
